On Saturday the 14th at 4AM UTC/GMT we will be upgrading the operating system of our network load balancers to a newer version, one that will allow us to use both CPUs! Nifty, because multiprocessing is nice.

Since we have 2 load balancers, the plan is to upgrade 1 at a time, and there really should be very little impact to our website. Hopefully you won't notice a thing and I'll get to go back to the hotel and watch some wonderful late night infomercials.

We've got a lot of exciting projects coming up for 2010 and we're hoping that we'll be able to deliver them all to you, that you will find it useful/cool/lovely and then you will use the site even more. Behind-the-scenes work like this will give us the capacity to handle the anticipated traffic, so expect a few more maintenance windows especially in the beginning of next year as we've got some neat ideas to improve performance around here! We had the recent 30-45 minute outage yesterday due to one of our logging databases filling up disk space -- not so great design coupled with my human error in handling the initial problem -- and it looks like we're going to finally have some resources to eliminate stuff like that. I can't wait!

There's talks of going away again this Christmas. Okaasan wants to see her family so I think we'll be off to the US again. Not sure I want to go but... we'll see. I've no love for any of my family really, but a vacation might be good.

...We are still having trouble with finding any real leads on the men or the car that took Keigo. ...However, I recalled something today about the incident while replaying it in my head for the millionth time and trying to figure out what I could have done different to prevent it that may at least help in recognizing the vehicle....I know it's a slim chance that it'll be helpful, as it's very possible they could've repainted the car, but it's still something to work with...
...But when the car was driving away, I threw a number of eggs at it....Anyone who's egged a car or knows someone who was a victim of an egging knows that if you leave egg sitting on a car for long enough, it's going to be impossible to get off....So we are possibly looking for a black Mercedes with a number of eggs fried into its paint job or a seriously fucked up paint job from when they tried to remove them.

1: All Communities have had a layout update. Simple and clean layouts for all. Icons are sill in the making. And we would like YOU to help us with that.
At the moment the communities are sporting a temporary icon, but we would like them all to have an icon similar to this:
What we need from you are short quotes that could go on these icons. This is just for fun only. ^^ All ideas are welcome.

2: New Ad has been made for the community, as well as the deletion of some old posts, changes to main posts, prettification of the communities in general. New posts have been made, including: calender of events, AU week lists, a list of potential game events and a birthday list.

It seems that a few people feel the need to remind me that my good intentions are a waste of time. Because apparently neither of them can be bothered to behave themselves well enough to give me the satisfaction of knowing I can have the two people closest to me in the same room together without them trying to kill one another with their words.

...And since that is the case, I will simply not bother with either of them until they can do this.



Seems like life sucks for everyone lately, doesn't it? I suppose this means I'll at least be able to place my time towards other more helpful things. Hyoutei sounds like they could use it. Use me as you like, if you so wish.


[OOC: For the curious, Kiraku has pretty much stopped speaking to his former fukubuchou/best friend Minamoto, as well as Echizen because the two of them keep fighting with each other. He got sick of it when the Minamoto and Echizen both showed up at his house Saturday afternoon and then started arguing with each other again. Which caused Kiraku to snap and practically throw both of them out of his house, saying they can't come back until they can get along. ^^;]

I will have to be more careful what I say in text from now on.

Also, a high metabolism comes in useful sometimes. I think I might join Genichirou for his run though...
